Generating API Credentials for Level AI

This guide walks clients through generating the API credentials Level AI needs to connect to your Sprout Social account. Once connected, we will securely pull your social conversations and the agent details associated with them into the Level AI platform.

Step 1: Create the API Credentials

You will create a set of machine-to-machine credentials (a Client ID and Client Secret). These let Level AI connect automatically, without anyone needing to log in each time.

1. Log in to Sprout Social.

2. Go to Settings → Global Features → API (the API settings page).

3. Find the OAuth Client Management section.

4. Click Generate configuration in the upper-right corner.

5. For the authentication method, select Machine-to-machine authentication.

6. Enter a name and short description so the credential is easy to recognise later — for example, name it "Level AI Integration".

7. Save the configuration.

8. Return to the OAuth Client Management section and copy the Client ID and Client Secret that were generated. Store them somewhere safe before leaving the page.

Important: The Client Secret is shown only when it is generated. Copy it immediately and keep it secure. Treat it like a password — anyone with these two values can access your Sprout data.
